Chorus girl Claire Tree, who has long been in love with Clayton, local millionaire, meets him at the Peacock Alley Hotel in New York. When he again refuses to marry her, she announces that she is marrying Jim Bradbury, her girlhood sweetheart from Texas. Jim, an ambitious young attorney, arrives and they are married; but when he forgets to sign her into the hotel, Dugan, the house detective, orders them from Jim’s room, insisting that Claire spent the previous night there with another man. Jim insists on confronting Clayton; but Claire is indignant that he has so little faith in her, and he finally leaves her. Disillusioned, Claire plunges into a new show, but on her opening night Clayton affirms that he now believes in marriage, and Claire accepts him. More on Wikipedia or Mubi
