Kathleen, an Irish lassie, comes to New York to marry Terry, a plumber. At a celebration in her Aunt Nora’s flat, she meets Dan Moriarity, a political boss whom she regards as a “great gentleman.” He invites her to his home on Long Island, and his attentions cause Terry to treat her with a jealous protectiveness. But Moriarity proposes marriage to her and informs Terry that they are to wed. At the wedding, however, a man accuses Moriarity’s men of a gang killing; Moriarity shoots him in the back before Kathleen, and tells the butler to dispose of the body. Terrified, and stopping only long enough to return her wedding ring, Kathleen rushes from the room and finds consolation in Terry’s arms. More on Wikipedia or Mubi
