A series of accidental deaths have been plaguing the men who work at the Miracle Gold Mining Company, owned by Stanley Barton and his grandmother Mary. When Stan reads a newspaper article describing how crooks are disposing of stolen gold by smelting and selling it back to the government as new gold boullion, he realizes that his foreman, Murdock, is the ringleader of the gold thieves. Stan threatens to expose his foreman, but Murdock sends his men to silence him. As Stan gallops away from his pursuers, he is joined by a rider, Alamo, and his dog Boots. After diverting Murdock’s men, Alamo rides to the Bar M ranch, where Grandma tells him the story of the Masked Phantom who, with his death-head knife, terrorized the forces of evil in former lawless days. Alamo decides to resurrect the legend of the Phantom, and with Dumpy and Tooney, two of Stan’s men, rides to free the captured Stan. The “Phantom” begins his campaign by terrifying Stan’s guards with his own death-head knife, a presage of certain death. As a terrified Murdock orders his men to load the gold, Alamo frees Stan, and they drive off with the gold. Murdock and his men chase them, but with the aid of Grandma, Tooney and Dumpy, the outlaws are apprehended. With law and order restored, Stan proposes to his girl friend, Carol Davis, and Alamo, Tooney and Dumpy, their job completed, ride off into the sunset. More on IMDB or Mubi
