According to a full-page color United Artists advertisement that ran in, among other magazines, the 12 Sep 1929 FD, Fanny Brice‘s new film with Robert Armstrong was titled It’s a Pleasure. Later, the November 1929 issue of Close Up noted that Fanny Brice‘s new film’s working title was The Champ.
       Marjorie “Babe” Kane‘s “Lola” character was based on popular singer Helen Kane, known as the “Oop-Boop-a-Doop” girl and an inspiration for the cartoon character “Betty Boop.”
       According to the Catalog of Copyright Entries: Motion Pictures 1912-1939, the title of Joseph Jackson‘s original story was “The Champ.”
