In New Mexico, ranch foreman Bob Harding and Professor Anthony Woodridge are abandoned by their Indian guide while searching for a hidden valley, once home to an ancient civilization. The professor is shot and killed and the treasure map is stolen by unknown assailants, but an aged prospector believes Bob is the murderer and brings him back to town to stand trial. A jury finds him guilty, but Bob manages to escape from the courtroom, telling them the real murderer will have the map. Bob hides with his former employer Joyce Lanners, unaware that her naïve brother, Jimmie, was a member of the gang that killed Woodridge. Frank Gavin, leader of the gang, gives Jimmie the map to frame him and tells Joyce that Jimmie is the murderer. Bob emerges, fights with Gavin and then escapes again. The sheriff receives reports from various states which claim they have captured Bob, but Joyce convinces him of Bob’s innocence and enlists the help of Vern Smith, pilot of the Goodyear Blimp, to fly over the desert and locate Bob. In the meantime, after having wandered the desert, Bob finds water and steals a horse, while Jimmy, having located the hidden valley, is captured by hostile Indians. Joyce and Smith find Bob, who climbs a ladder into the blimp and urges Smith to continue the search for the valley. Gavin and his gang find the valley and hide from the Indians while they perform a ceremony over Jimmie. Having seen the situation from above, Bob parachutes from the blimp and rescues Jimmie, who promises to confess although he did not actually kill Woodridge. Gavin and his gang shoot it out with Bob and Jimmie, who ride away from them and the attacking Indians and manage to climb aboard the blimp to safety. More on Wikipedia
