Zvanì is a humble ferryman who lives in the Ravenna countryside . One night he gives hospitality to a beautiful stranger who was stranded in a car accident and falls in love with her. Sure he can track her down, he leaves his land, his family and his girlfriend and goes to Rome . Thanks to one of his fellow villagers who made a fortune in America and manages the Black Swan , a luxurious restaurant, he finds work as an accordion player, but his girlfriend, with the complicity of the owner of the restaurant, manages to convince Zvanì to leave the stranger alone, for the which was just a whim, to go home and get married.
