Actress Verna Wilson blackmails her married backer, John Randolph Sr., for $100,000 by telling his wife that their relationship is more than professional. His son Dick persuades his mother not to leave the marriage, knowing that his father must be innocent. Determined to find out the truth, Dick and the family chauffeur board a steamship bound for Europe upon which Verna is a passenger. Also on board is Verna’s former lover, an ex-convict who is seeking revenge, and her former manager, who wants “in” on her blackmail schemes.
