Martin becomes the district attorney in a big city with a gangster problem. Johnny enters the territory, planning to take it over from Chili Scarpelli. Martin once rescued Johnny on the European battlefield and now calls on this old obligation for help in controlling the gangsters. He makes Johnny the chief of detectives and gives him the task of putting Scarpelli out of business. Eleanor is engaged to Martin, but when she falls in love with Johnny, he steps out of the way. Johnny traps Scarpelli’s gang during a robbery, and they shoot it out with the police. The police win, but Johnny is fatally wounded. More on Wikipedia
