Cowboy Ken Neville receives a letter from his father requesting his help in rounding up a gang of rustlers. When he arrives in town he discovers that his father and fellow rancher Mr. Warner are both dead, supposedly killed during an argument over rustlers. Warner’s daughter Mary blames Neville, whom she believes to be the head of the rustlers, for her father’s death. Without revealing his identity, Ken questions Mary and, after learning that she revealed his father’s plan to trap the rustlers to Rance Collins, follows one of Collins’ men to their hideout. At the hideout, Ken overhears the rustlers plot to steal Warner’s steers. Ken asks Collins for a job and when he hesitates, Ken’s friend “Repeater,” who has followed Ken to the hideout, pretends to arrest Ken for the murder of his father. Collins helps Ken escape, confident that he no longer has anything to fear from Neville’s son. Ken fakes Repeater’s death, but Collins grows suspicious when he learns that one of the intruders at the hideout earlier that day stuttered like Repeater. His suspicions are confirmed when one of his men recognizes Ken as the man he saw snooping at the Warner ranch. Collins’ men surround Ken, but his horse Tarzan breaks a window through which Ken escapes. Having distracted Collins’ men, Ken returns to prevent Collins’ escape.
